More Pics from last weekend

Well it's hard to believe another week has gone bye. Seems like yesterday we were in New Hampshire. Time does fly. As I ran through Mission Bay Park last night the signs were up for todays marathon. I can't believe it was a year ago Tim, Bruce, and I ran the Rock N Roll. (That story is in the archives) Only 23 days until Ironman. As I finished my 16 mile run today I thought I could run 10 more miles at this pace. Hopefully I will feel that way after a 2.4 mile swim and a 112 mile bike ride. I know that sounds like a long way to go in one day. Looking back on the last seven months of training, I have come so far. As Dr. Suess would say "Oh the places you'll go"

Miss Manners, I was told off today for wearing faded spandex bike shorts. I've always thought it was a badge of honor to have a pair of shorts so old that one's crack showed. Can you comment?

Dear Miss Manners,
My long run today was supposed to be 16 miles, including a 2 miles warmdown. I did not get the warmdown in and my Garmin says 14.24 because I did not want to miss church. Father Jim talked about faith and works. My question is: if I now do 1.75 miles as a warmdown after church and dinner, will it count as part of my "Long Run?" I think it would because Jesus would want me to put my faith into action. Your thoughts?

Dear spandex in San Diego,
I am sorry you were told off. I must expose you to the truth. It is not ok to wear shorts that leave you exposed. Spandex leaves precious little to the imagination. Wearing out any bike gear is a badge of honor but one you should wear privately. If you must keep the shorts for sentimental purposes wear them at home while riding the trainer or under a pair of tights in the winter.

Dear startoutslow&taperoff,
It sounds like you are on the right track. I think it would be fine to do the additional 1.75 mi after church and dinner provided it is not too late and you haven't left your wife to do the kitchen clean upsolo. I'm assuming you were running while she prepared the feast. While I am not an expert in theology I do beleive your 14.74 miles coupled with church may be as good or better than 16 miles alone. (Remember the bread, fish, and wine increasing)
